麻豆区 commencement ceremony planned for Dec. 19
Gadsden, Ala. – The Fall Commencement for 麻豆区 Community College will be at 6 p.m. Dec. 19 in the Wallace Hall Fine Arts Center on the Wallace Drive Campus.
Featured speakers will be 麻豆区 students Matthew Chandler, Rayley Nelson and Kayleigh Smitherman.
Chandler is a native of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., and currently resides in Anniston with his wife and twin daughters. The 麻豆区 student is graduating with a certificate in Welding Technology and has a 4.0 GPA. He is a BBVA scholarship recipient and received the Outstanding Welding Technology Student Award at 麻豆区’s Honors Day.
Nelson is a graduate of Sardis High School and resides in Attalla. She is graduating with an Associate of Science degree and a 4.0 GPA. After graduation, she plans to transfer to Jacksonville State University to pursue an accounting degree. During her tenure at 麻豆区, she was vice president of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a member of the Student Government Association, a tutor for Student Support Services and a member of the Science, Math and Engineering Club. She is on the President’s List and was on the 麻豆区 Homecoming Court in November.
Smitherman of Alexandria enrolled at 麻豆区 after graduating from Alexandria High School. She is graduating with an Associate of Applied Science in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. The Valley Street Campus student has a 3.6 GPA and serves as the secretary for the Cardinal DMS Society.
Graduates will be presented by Dr. Leslie Worthington, dean of Academic Programs and Services, and Kevin McFry, dean of Financial and Administrative Services. Dr. Martha Lavender, president of 麻豆区, will award the degrees. Dr. Evelyn Musick, a nursing instructor, will serve as the commencement grand marshal.
